Fjord Trends 2022 - The New Fabric of Life

The brief for the 2022 Trends was all about the choices we make and the impact those decisions have on our world and its structure in more ways than we can imagine.

I personally contributed to "The Next Frontier" centred on the next wave of emerging technology and consumer behaviour. In particular I looked at the Metaverse, its gaming roots to offer people and brands a new place to interact, create, consume and earn. My argument was that finding success in this space will rely on brands’ understanding of their customers in this new world. trend in particular,

Fjord Trends 2021 - Mapping out New Territory

My focus in 2021 was all about anomalies triggered by the Pandemic. Many of us were spending much more time on screens to interact with the world and consequently, people noticed a certain sameness caused by templated design in digital.

For the Interaction Wanderlust Trend, I hypothesised that design, content, and audiences needed to be reconsider, to inject greater excitement, joy and serendipity into screen experiences.

This trend was about how we need more from the screens through which we live our lives. Interactions are ripe for a reboot, in ways that challenge and inspire us, excite us and bring the element of chance back to our daily routines.

Off the back of several Financial Services projects I worked on, I was asked to contribute to the Money Changers Trend for FY20.

This trend was about how our relationship with money is evolving and how I predicted we'd see the evolution of new ecosystems established by non-traditional financial companies. Almost invisible payment systems will emerge, rendering our connections to and feelings towards money more ambiguous and changing.
